Administration Guide11. The Assignment Due Dates
You will see in the Study Guide that Descartes’ project is the subject of Weeks Four and Five and this due date is the Friday of Week Seven. So you will have plenty of time to mull things over. Mind-Brain Identity Theory is the subject of Week Nine and this due date is the Friday of Week Twelve. Things are therefore a bit more rushed. The due date can’t be pushed any later however, without the turn-around time interfering with the Examination period. (It is probably set later than it should be as it is.) Plan accordingly. These dues dates are deadlines for the assignments. If you are seriously indisposed through illness or some other calamity, so that you find it impossible to finish an assignment by the deadline, then contact the Course Administrator (Ms Sharon Cox). You can assume that, if you have a good reason (or even better an original one!), you will be granted one week’s grace automatically. Assignments, both internal and extramural, will be marked by markers who may be other than myself. Our markers are usually graduates of our own system or post-graduate students here or philosophers from other New Zealand universities. So you can have faith in their judgements and faith that their judgements are usually pretty close to my own. They also turn things around very promptly. You will be assigned the same marker throughout the semester on receipt of your first assignment. Feel free to write to her/him about remarks on your assignments. (General queries, about administration, or the philosophical content of the course, or your marker’s marks, should be directed to the course controller.) Previous Section: The Assignment Two Topic
