Welcome to my site. Here you will find information relating to two topics, digital guitar effects and software quality.
Having a passion for both the guitar and all things computer related led me to the study of digital signal processing (DSP). DSP can be used to alter the sound of a guitar. On this site you will find information on how to implement common effects in a DSP system. You will also find information regarding pitch scaling as it applies to guitars. This is the transposition of notes up or down the frequency range (similar to a Capo device used to bar off frets on a guitar). Also of interest is a hardware and software design for a guitar effect control station. This is for DSP development boards than can only accept analogue control signals. Also see this section, which provides some info on analogue electronics with particular emphasis placed on guitar effects. Check out my Hondo page.
There are various methodologies to follow within a software development process that lead to the creation of quality software. Quality here means ease of maintenance, high reliability, and the ability to re-use software components. This site has a section on ways to reach higher quality standards in software development. This section contains a number of essays and reports on various business related topics, including work teams, entrepreneurship and decision-making.
"An Electronic Capo for Guitar Pitch Scaling" was presented to the 8th Electronics New Zealand Conference in 2001. It discusses the development of a stand alone guitar effects unit to implement a pitch scaling algorithm. Counter:02663 Last updated 11/03/2005
