• Responsibilities:
Lecturing, Lab preparation, tutoring and organisation of labs for paper.

I was asked to lecture for a week for the paper Architecture and Networks during my masters. The paper was a second semester 3rd year engineering paper and consisted of approximately 80 students.

In addition to lecturing for the week that the lecturer was away at a conference, I was asked to conduct five weeks (Ten 3 hour labs a week) of computer labs for the paper.

• Responsibilities:
Lab preparation, tutoring and organisation of labs for paper.

While working on my masters, I worked part time for my Institute for the first semester 3rd year paper; Web Technologies. I was in charge of conducting workshops for students to learn about computer hardware and software.

There were four labs run, with topics varying from learning about computer hardware, to installing Operating systems like Windows 2000 and Red Hat Linux, in addition to being taught about networking and performance aspects of computers.

•  Responsibilities:
Computer Lab Administrator, IT Systems Consultant & GIS (Geographical Information Systems) Systems Administrator.

My responsibilities were the Institute of Natural Resources (INR) computer labs and GIS labs containing approximately 100 workstations and 10 file, web and application/licensing servers. I headed the requirements elicitation and management of allocated projects on time and within budget

Computer Lab Administrator:

- Management of Server and Client Machines for Institute of Natural Resources
- Troubleshooting/helpdesk
- Requirements elicitation and decision making for hardware and software procurement
- Hiring out and logging of departmental hardware (laptops, projectors etc.)

IT Systems Consultant:

- HTML projects
- Wireless projects and security

GIS Systems Administrator:

- Management of Server and Client Machines for GIS computer labs
- Troubleshooting/helpdesk
- Construction and maintenance of servers and high end graphics workstations
- Requirements elicitation and decision making for hardware procurement
- GIS webmaster. Management of Atlas mapping system
- Database management of ortho photos, topographical maps, vector data and satellite imagery
- Rectification of satellite and aerial imagery data

Projects:

- Software migration of servers from older O/S'es to Windows 2003 Server
- Hardware upgrades of multiple File and Licensing servers
- Requirements elicitation and decision making for hardware and software procurement
- I streamlined the licensing and setup of GIS systems at Massey University . My documentation and setup protocols are still being used for all GIS systems at Massey University
- Updating/fixing GIS website and imagery database
- Rectification of satellite and aerial photography of flooding in the Manawatu region from Horizons Regional Council
- Computer audit of hardware and software in labs

•  Responsibilities:
Network Administration, Systems Administration, Computer training of employees, trouble shooting/Help desk, Maintaining National Security, backup of vital information and disaster mitigation, procurement of computer hardware and software, documentation.

I worked with SPEL who are in charge of the logistics systems for the N.Z Army.

I was solely in charge of the IT infrastructure for a week when both Army Administrators were on leave.

Projects:

- Organised the sale of old computer hardware to employees to improve morale (hardware sold at below cost price) and computer literacy. This involved making sure that an inventory was done, the computers were secure (all information was erased permanently), finalising the sale and receipt of goods, and documentation.

- Conducted a detailed computer hardware and software audit and created documentation that made the location of hardware, maintenance and licensing of software for SPEL more efficient.

- Developed and implemented a daily staff training scheme, which included setting up the training machines and lab in addition to developing and teaching week long computer courses to improve staff computer literacy. In addition I created documentation that could be used by others to run further courses.

A month into my working at Nico, the two IT managers left the company, leaving me the only person in charge of the IT department for three weeks.
